playing SPWAW over Internet ??

Post by Arralen »

Hello !

I find it impossible to play SPWAW over Internet due to the setup of both machines:

- W2k/XP
- both having Internet Connection Sharing enabled
- both using ADSL connection.

SPWAW insists on using IP 192.168.0.1, which is the setup for the LAN, not the IP address of the 2nd card.

Is there any way to tell SPWAW to use the other adress ?

I also tried to use the Combat Net Client, but either the server is down 24/7 or I can't get a connection with it as well.

And, no, email-gaming isn't an option I'm looking for !

thanks,
yours,
A.

The way online is setup, is one computer creates the game and others join. Do you have access to both of these computers? If so, try working it from both directions, create the game and wait, attempt to join form the other compter, this is were you manually input the IP address to connect to, try using both addresses, the LAN and the 2nd card. Even if you don't have access to both computers because the other is a gamer you want to play against follow the same porcedures as far as trying on both ends create and join until you find the right combination that works. I hate the online setup for SPWAW but unfortuantely you can't change the IP within SPWAW it automatically detects it when attempting online play as the creator. Combat Net is down indefinetly possibly never to return as we knew it.
