Introducing a new player - replay error

I am trying to introduce a frien to PBEM AE

Sent him my turn so he could watch a replay of a campaign game turn.

But we get the following problem, we are both on the same patch??

I saved your game file into the saved games folder. I then unzipped it. It showed up in the saved games at slot 8. However, when I select it I repeatedly get a "Failed to load saved game" message. I redid everything to no effect. Got any ideas why this would happen? Did I make a mistep in the process?

Two things come to mind:

1) The file got corrupted between point A and point B. It is unusual, but it happens and most especially if one party is having problems with their Internet link.

2) One of you is using the "MP" version that provides more pilot slots. MP saves can not be loaded by the non-MP version. This could be done by accident if a shortcut points there and the player doesn't realize it or set up the shortcut that way because he had no idea to the contrary. Look in the main AE folder and you will see that both the DLL and the main executable each also have a version with "MP" appended to the name.

I have sent the file again.

Both of us should be on the R9 latest offcial so what is MP version? - I have never seen an option for that. All my PBEM games work fine.
I looked at the .exe and DLL I can not see any sign of a MP being added in?

Every patch past a certain one (which was a number of months ago) has included both the 'regular' version and the MP version. Look in the Beta2 sub-folder:

War in the Pacific Admiral Edition.exe
pwsdll.dll

War in the Pacific Admiral EditionMP.exe
pwsdllMP.dll

Your shortcut will point to one of the two .exe files.

Have looked see no MP files, in Beta, Beta2 or main files.

before the R9 i was on P6

I will ask my friend to look at this so he can check his end.
