Questions For Those In The Know
1) How do you get just one squad to hide? It seems that if I hit the hide order in the toolbar all units are given the order.
2) How can I save my setups for quick battles. The only save game I see is Save and Exit which does what it states and allows you to pick up where you left off. Is there some way to save various games to retry different strategies?
It really is awesome to see your tank crews bail and get into a defensive position. That is if they are not mowed down in the process.
I wish this game had some kind of rewind though only if able to see what has happened in a sector you weren't viewing at the time.

RE: Questions For Those In The Know
1) You can choose just one squad by right clicking on the squuad in the top right list of squads.Note that the icon option (one icon for each squad)can be misleading as to where the soldiers are. To see exactly where they are, choose the (F6) option where each soldier has a little colored ball over his head.
2) As far as I can tell, you cannot save the way you want. I wonder why? This is also inconvenient for saving screenshots, because my Imac saves screens only to the clipboard (F12 does something else) and this game does not allow to alt-tab out.
I also agree that the lack or a replay is unfortunate, especially since it is often difficult to figure out who is shooting at what.

I have left and come back into the game after using print screen. The Windows key for sure still works. Will try alt-tab in Windows 7 64bit to see if it works....
Edit: alt-tab working fine under Windows 7 64bit

Strange, I also use Win 7 64 bit (Win Enterprise Pro), but I could not use alt-tab yesterday. Maybe it was a glitch. I will check it again when I play.

RE: Questions For Those In The Know
1) back to this one. I am more interested in finding out how to hide individual squads and that is what my question was referring to. How do I get just 1 squad not to fire until I want them to. There is a hide button, but when I press it it remains that way for every subsequent squad I cycle through and none of them keep hidden? Choosing and finding the squads is not the problem.
Thanks

RE: Questions For Those In The Know
take a look at that Screenshot MR. Button "1" orders the selected squad to hold fire. If you click it with the right button it turns red. Means they hold fire.
With the Bottons "2" you order a selected squad for example not to fire at enemy Infantry (or planes). I use it to order my AT Guns only to fire against vehicles/tanks if they are in a good position. I dont want the enemy to know my ATG when not really needed.

1^^ I had my Infantry platoon at "hold fire" until the german marder passed. Then I "undone" the "hold fire" and they threw grenades and a molotov cocktail. The marder was history (only turnded around some degrees while the crew jumped out and were killed).

You have the same menus as it seems
The only menu is dont see is the ammo and experience bar but maybe cause you have no single squad selected in the few screens I see from you. And yes its the Operation Star Full version. Are you still using the demo?

To be more precise. In your screens here I see the same buttons: tm.asp?m=3077939&mpage=1&key=?
Your third or fourth image as example.

RE: Questions For Those In The Know
My second AAR uses the full game. OK, I think you are speaking of the two buttons with the image of a big bullet and a small bullet (sorry about that, most of my AAR screens had the quick menus only visible - but the last two show the extended menu with the above bullets).
I don't quite understand those two icons: the manual shows one that apparently changes to an X, but mine do not do that - if I click on it, it becomes red. Does red mean that it is forbidden to shoot or that it is an order to shoot? And it is unclear to me what the difference between the two icons is. [&:]

Here you are. Your picture is small, so I am not sure whether or not these are the same icons you mentioned for controlling fire. If not, I do not have them.

RE: Questions For Those In The Know
The left one (big bullet) can be used (as explained above) to order a selected squad to hold fire completely. For ambushes or whatever. Right click on it and it turns red what means they do not fire at all. Left click again (to turn it black again) and they fire at will as they see fitt.
The icon with the little infantrymen means the unit will also shot at enemy infantry. Use it as example for your AT Guns and click it with the right mouse button. If its red, the gun will not open fire against enemy infantry.
In short: The bullet icon can be used to order not to fire at all. The other one not to shot against infantry.
The icon with the plane does the same as the one with the infantry besides that the unit will not shoot against planes then.

Thanks Vasquez, that makes sense. That is far from clear in the manual.

RE: Questions For Those In The Know
Yeah a lot stuff to learn. I just discovered that you can also set targets for your mortar platoon with your mortar commander =)
Ligth field cannons (not that off-map artillery) are also very usefull against armored cars. And those concsript platoons (if avaiable) are used to replenish nearby squads who suffered losses - if they are in range and only at the start of a new round (after all battles in the current round are fought).
With the regular off map artillery you can draw larger fire lines if you hold the right button when setting a target.
Still not sure how regular reeinforcement really works (beside the ability to rotate squads or to fill vacant squad slots at the start of a campign via the reserve pool) but Ill figure that out soon I guess.

RE: Questions For Those In The Know
You can bring in platoons from the reserves the turn after they arrive. Click on them and you will see the places where they can move.

Sorry for confusion. I dont mean the reserve platoons on the map. I mean the reserve squads in the reserve pool.
