Erik hasn't put out a statement in a while. I'm hoping this means a nice, big patch is being tested. I'm rather interested to see what is going to happen with custom designs and/or the community "design policy" idea.

This is the normal winding down period after an expansion and Erik follows the money,ie new releases..No doubt there will be a full patch soon and then the next expansion in 6 months.

I don't really know what other games are being worked on at Matrix right now, but I'd just assume Erik is busy as usual. Like Ash says, we've experienced these lulls before.

Hello Falokis, Javaslinger and others,

Yes, we are still in testing DW Legends 1.7.0.13. There are a lot of issues that
are being looked at and tested, especially concerning the optimized designs and
how the game is handling them. I am also busy testing mod integration for mods
playing with and without the Shakturi options on. Be patient. Erik or Elliot will
be forthcoming when they're ready to! [:)]

Legends was released around 11/23/2011 and the last official update was a few weeks later at 12/10/2012

Now we have gone from 1.7.0.6 to 1.7.0.13 in about 3 months time. That is with a major new item customised designs added on about 3/2/2012

There is a whole lot going on and being done with the game.

I agree, I have found a lot of work is still being done, the rate that was happening has decreased from what were use too, but none the less, steady and fruitful progress is still being made, the changelog on each BETA clearly shows that quality work is still being done, and new features are being put in.
I think the Legends expansion was a very complex one, and is taking a lot of time dealing with some of the new features, and like been said, the developers are introducing a new underlying system which is a great system the game has needed for some time (designs), but it won't be easy
In fact I recall the developer of "Space Empires 5" (Aaron Hall) also introduced a similar system in his project, yet he knew he would never get it right because of time constraints, so instead he designed the system to be heavily modded, and put the burden over to the community, which worked very well thanks to the "Balancing Mod".


The developers are taking distant worlds into difficult areas, and this new area that the developers are taking distant worlds is no doubt very taxing on there skills, and careful design decisions and programming is needed, which takes time.

Legends was only announced on Sept 27th of last year, for a November release. Still plenty of time.
