Reflections after first hotseat Campaign

Post by wolf14455 »

Was very fun and tough match I got a human oponent to say the least.
Many inovative aproaches how to fight an Axis human.

First he crowded France with more troops troops tha England got there during WWI, creating a upkeep hit but kept my Germans from capturing France nearly all of 1940. He also did the sneaky trick by moving up divisions to the front line and then converted all that I didnt kill to corps. Is that wad? They arent home just in allied territory. The losses on both side exeded WWI losses by maybee 50 %. Then England was qiet easy to capture during 1941.
Decided to make Barbarossa in 1942 instead but during the winter -41 -42 Russia attacked instead making me fight all winter. Maked slow progress because of thick infantry line. My Panzers kill them peace by peace but usually their AP was depleted in the process. Heard afterwards that he scraped many armour units and got lots of infantry for it. My offensive power was depleted at the end -42 by a combination of Winter, major uppkeep hit(was paying over 400 PP) and the huge losses created by USA´s air and land offensive from newly allied member Ireland.

I got a strong defence of the uk with at least 10 fighter units with lvl 3 tech, us got 1 and later 2.
I couldnt afford repair my units and air at the same time repairing the russian front forces.
Reason of me loosing so badly in the air war was because of a escort carrier gambit by my human oponent. He got over 30 of them in the end. My tech lvl of my fighter didnt seamed to be of any use and as long as I didnt hit the carriers any air losses was replaced at the end of the turn . And if they where damaged they was cheaply repaired. Even if I know they where there crating all this ruccus I couldnt even strafe them without my tac air.

So against a human oponent, unclear bondaries of warfare between navy air and land air it was very tough. So when USA started his real offensive from Portugal attacking Spain I gaved up. Now we eagerly wait for the next patch playing oposit sides and hoping our new campaign saves is compatible with the patch.

The game is already worth the money spen.

Additon: Was very time consuming to scroll thrue all garrison units to find active units to move. Hoping for some sort of exclusion of selected units from the scroll in the future oe even more elaborate, front scrolling. Russian front on their own and desert and so forth.
Got a question on the upkeep matter.
If it is manpower that is the limit when calculating should SS and other volentears count towards the breaking point?

Most of the map icons tell a player when you can move it.
I use counter. It is the Gold button. When you see Gold you have action points.

All volunteers are counted.
