Will this work on a Nook Tablet?

(The Nook Tablet runs Android 2.3.)

Note: I have no other mobile devices, Android or otherwise (but a greal deal of Linux expertise, and good hacking skills, if it matters).

I don't know for sure as we don't have one but it shouldn't let you purchase if it wont run so give it a try and let us know if there is an issue. The joy of Android is there are thousands of different devices and we only have a small subset of them to test on.

A common complaint among Nook Tablet (and Nook Color) owners is the dearth of apps at the Barnes & Noble Nook App Store. I would think that if Conquest: Medieval Realms were available as a bona fide, vetted Nook app, it would be a best-seller. Should B&N contact you? (But how would they know about you?) Or should you contact B&N? I suggest the latter.

As a work-around, I suppose I might install this on one of my PCs, then run it remotely.

I purchased and installed Splashtop Remote Desktop on my Nook Tablet (NT), then downloaded and installed the Splashtop Streamer server software on one of my Windows (XP) PCs.

I launched Field of Glory on the PC, then fired up the Splashtop client on my NT. Field of Glory on my NT (sort of) -- cool!

Except that working the controls was painful. (My conclusion, after testing several PC games in this configuration: fuggedaboutit. The NT (and other tablets) really need native tablet games with controls and interfaces designed specifically for the tablet.)

And the performance was abysmal. This older, single-core, 1 GHz, 1 GB Ram Windows XP system runs FoG quite nicely. But the Splashtop Streamer software was consuming near 100% of the CPU. FoG on the NT was dreadfully slow.

I have another dual-core, 3.5 GHz, 4 GB RAM Windows 7 system, but -- strangely enough -- FoG running natively on that system is also dreadfully slow. (This is a tech support issue I should maybe raise at the Slitherine Forum.) Running the Splashtop Streamer server software on that system, then attempting to run FoG remotely on the NT -- I didn't even try.

Splashtop Remote Desktop is an interesting curiosity, but at this point I don't see any real practical use for it. (No big deal. It just cost me $5 and a few hours of my time.)

No, for the NT, only NT-native apps will do. That is to say, only Android-native apps, vetted and made available at the B&N Nook App Store will do. For Conquest: Medieval Realms (and also Field of Glory, when it too is ported to tablets; FoG would be an ideal tablet game), can B&N and Slitherine somehow get together to make this happen?

(BTW, if anybody is wondering why I chose the Nook Tablet over the Kindle Fire, or a full-fledged Android tablet, much less the Apple iPad: I have my reasons. The B&N NT is the best hardware for the money, and for my needs -- an all-purpose reading device, no games (or hardly any), no apps, no fancy multi-media; just reading, books, and basic Internet access -- for my needs, the NT was the perfect fit. No buyer's remorse; I'm quite happy with my NT choice.)
