My initial results of the first five ATB Scenarios

This exciting new release is a faithful adaptation of the renowned Conflict of Heroes board game that won the Origins Historical Game of the Year, Charles Roberts Wargame of the Year and the James F. Dunnigan Design Elegance Award, as well as many others!

Designed and developed in cooperation with Uwe Eickert, the original designer of Conflict of Heroes, and Western Civlization Software, the award-winning computer wargame studio, no effort has been spared to bring the outstanding Conflict of Heroes gameplay to the computer. Conflict of Heroes includes an AI opponent as well as full multiplayer support with an integrated forum and game lobby. To remain true to the core gameplay of the board game, the PC version is designed to be fun, fast and easy to play, though hard to master. The game design is also historically accurate and teaches and rewards platoon and company-level combined arms tactics without overwhelming the player with rules.

My initial results of the first five ATB Scenarios

Post by jcrohio »

1. Partisans
Very easy as the Germans - basically rarely loose a unit - impossible for me as the Russians - get wiped out a long range by the LMG and cannot handle the pioneers coming up from behind

2. The Gap
Good and competetive playing either side - got wins as both but the games were good

3. General Petrov
Good game as the Germans - close win but very fun - decent game as the Russians - felt threatened but not seriosly by the AI germans

4. The Bunker
Good game as the Germans - close win but very fun - decent game as the Russians - felt threatened but not seriosly by the AI germans

5. The Monsters
Have gotten slaughtered as the Germans - can make no headway with this one - barely can capture the first set of objectives and then the t-34 come and destroy what is left (and it is usually not much) of my Germans - played once as the russians and the AI Germans never advance to the first set of objectives - pretty much held with the inital forces and then mopped up with the t-34s - I know people say they can beat this scenario but I cannot figure it out

Enjoying the game

It is possible to take the first hill as the Germans taking very little losses. After that it get tough fast. I was able to get control of one of the other VP location, but I couldn't hold it. The T-34s are too much for me.

Don't expect to win a fight against the T-34's. You just delay their advance and try to win by running the clock out. One tank can sweep around back and take the far VP point as you are trying to take the first hill. When the T-34's come on board they head over to that back VP first instead of the front hill. While they waste time trying to win back the rear VP that you are holding with a tank you can win be gaining the VP points you are holding.

I played the point battle as the Germans and Russians. Easy win for Russsians I thought this would be ideal for a multi player but the German will lose every time. Its too bias. Should their be a meeting enagement, attack, defence balanced point type battles?

One issue for many scenarios is that the forces are set up do close to each other there is little choice but to shoot it out.
