AAR

Post by budd »

Since the game has reached the top of my play list, thought i'd do an AAR. This is my second scenario played since the patch. Played Carentan to a draw. Can't say i know the system real well yet, but i am enjoying the hell out of playing it. I'm almost half way thru this scenario and it has been a blast. Here we go.

The plan, reading the description of the scenario leads me to believe I won't really be able to make hay until the reinforcements arrive.

Thanks, looking forward to it.

My arty never does much.

Yea, the enemy AI arty doesn't seem to have a problem with disrupting my units. Mine is not as effective for sure, but i've had a few good barrages. Game is damn fun though.

This AAR is good!

For the German player, most units start entrenched to Level 3. If the units move about the units lose their entrenched status.

This puts the German player in a quandry. A mobile / clever defense is a weaker defense.

Well lets see how the plan holds up. My weakness has always been my impatience. I hurry and tend to get dis-jointed in my efforts and with this game you really have to plan out your attacks. Do you jam everyone up close in assault posture or as i do i move units up and leave some in assault posture and some in defend so i can put some fire on the enemy.Attack on a narrow front or envelope and attack from more hexes. Also when i start feeling time pressure i tend to move to quickly too. I seem to always get too greedy also......I played more and the issue is still in doubt and for the first time[where i am actually at in game] I'm feeling time pressure. I think i'm the middle of aug 3rd in the actual game. I'll post what i have prepared....Here we go.

close up shot of the 2 main contact points, only 2 roads into Troina from west and northwest. Small brown line is a secondary road, black line primary road. My next reinforcements don't arrive until 0600 Aug 3 from the south, way things are looking the reinforcements will have to attempt to take the southern VP's.

My assault went well, vp achieved. My impatience got the better of me, i took the units in reserve posture, switched them to assault and jammed them down the middle.

Under direct fire and arty, enemy withdrew from a VP. Here's the plan now. 4 hours until southern reinforcements arrive.
