Noob Question : Aircraft Questions

Post by Hooper82 »

Hi Guys and Girls,

I've got a bit of a fetish for the Rufes (Especialy with the CS/AV's). Can any air units upgrade to Rufes (assuming PDU on), or only the 6 air units that come with them?

Is there a thread somewhere showing the upgrade paths (as there was for the original WITP?)? I understand you can pay PP to upgrade to a different type, but I don't see where you could select that different type of aircraft?

Cheers,
Hooper

After doing a fair bit of searching, I've found that the two FP airgroups attached to the Kamikawa Maru can upgrade to Rufe FF.

However, is there some sort of chart that shows all the upgrade paths? As there was for WITP?

Cheers,
Hooper

Awesome, thanks!

Another question, re: Production

If I've got a replacement air group coming in requiring, for examples, Tonys, but I am only producing Tojo's, what happens to those airgroups? Do they come in or not?

Yes they come and usually have 2 planes. If you play PDU on, you can change the plane model easily. If you play PDU off, you have only one upgrade path.

So they come in even if I have 0 of that aircraft type in the pool?

Hopefully, those pretty island girls also have a Rufe fetish! [:D]

If it weren't for the family-friendly nature of this forum, I would make a follow up comment involving the pretty island girls, the Rufe fetish and the area of the plane where the pilot sits. [X(]

Another two questions
* Static Air Units (i.e. those unable to change their command), are they forever static or does that change at some point (i.e. IJA Air Groups on the home island).
* The Great 1944 Japanese Airforce Withdrawal...I've only just read about this on the forums. Its not listed in Intel > Group Withdrawal Schedule. Does anyone have nay more information on it?

Sometimes you can slap together a package of A6M2-n Rufe and H8K emilies

the rufes are chewed up but the emilies get through and hit some carriers [8D]

Beware the size 0 airfield [:D]

also if you put them aboard AV ships and use them in your oiler TF
they can defend against unescorted LBA

Has anyone found those Rufe's to be useful in their game?

I was going to use them on CS's, to add to CAP for KB/Mini KB.
If I had more I'd throw them into AV's to provide cover for convoys and the like, but the best I can tell, these are all the groups of float fighters you get -

Groups Aircraft Availaible Notes
Kamikawa Maru-1 6 Now On AV Kamikawa Maru
Kamikawa Maru-2 6 Now On AV Kamikawa Maru
Yokohama Ku S-1 9 4-Apr-1942
14th Ku S-1 9 10-Apr-1942 Withdrawn 01 Apr 1944
5th Ku S-1 9 15-Apr-1942 Withdrawn 01 Jan 1945
934 Ku S-1 9 15-Feb-1943 Withdrawn 01 Mar 1944
Sasebo Ku S-2 9 2-Apr-1944 Static
Kashima Ku S-1 9 17-Feb-1945 Static
Otsu Ku S-1 12 2-May-1945 Static

Any answer on these two?

There are two types of static unit, those with a white 'attached to' name cannot be change, those in yellow are static because they are attched to a static HQ and therefore can chnage commands. It is a possibility that a unit could be withdrawn and return by the game but manually doing it does not work.
