Reluctant Admiral: After the Fall--March 1, 1942

Post by John 3rd »

The subject has come in over in the RA Thread about creating an RA Mod that begins after the fall of the DEI. The idea has merit and some interest. My initial thoughts are to make the start date fairly early (March 1, 1942) to reflect the quick capture of the DEI yet not be TOO far in so that the Allied and Japanese players have a chance to formulate their 'Second Phase' Offensive--Defensive strategies.

Am opening up this for thought and comment.

Major Topics would be starting points, losses inflicted and sustained, as well as planning for units on where they deploy next.

My time is fairly short with school being out but I could easily see slowly plinking away at this for a late-summer/early-fall release.

A fairly decent starting point might be the Babes-Operation FS scenario, under development (with help from Babes-Guadalcanal). It has just about everything that was in SoPac and SWPOA (US, Aus, NZ) as of May/June 1942 with phased reinforcements (by actuals) to March 1943 - land/sea/air. It also has everything that Japan deployed (by actuals) to New Guinea, Solomons, Gilberts, Marshalls, land/sea/air, from June 1942 to March 1943.

So pick a starting date, and you can find out who was where when, on a large portion of the map. You are on your own for China, Burma, India, but the Babes-DEI scenario has all the base and support forces, land/sea/air, devised for DEI garrison purposes, arriving in the last 1/3 of the scenario time frame. Should help a bit for those map areas. Our Guad/FS scenario background info has gobs of stuff on what was happening in the PI and who was doing what, and just how important Davao had become as a staging base, and yadda, yadda, yadda.

No need to start from scratch. [8D]

As always, can help. John

I wish I had the knowledge, and the time, to help with this. But what I can offer to do, is to go through the databases once they are ready, looking for the unavoidable small mistakes that tend to creep in. A small contribution, but you guys do so much!

ANY help would be much appreciated Kitakami. We won't need artwork since everything is already done. It will be a bear switching bases and redeploying all the troops but it could be do-able.

We will have to have round-robin discussions regarding Allied and Japanese deployments for game start as well as some sort of 'reasonable' storyline.
