Interested...A few questions if I may

Post by Foofighter »

Hello all

I am interested in Ostpak but do have a few questions.

I already own CMBB. For those that have played both, is this worth spending the money on. I know that is has a huge feature list which certainly makes me think this is an major step forward from CMBB...would that be correct?

Also does the DVD version come with a full printed manual?

Does this contain Operation Bagration, the Lvov-Sandomierz Offensive and liberation of Poland where the first King Tigers were introduced in the East for example?

I do like the sound of the specific division and unit campaings and scenarios.

Thanks,
G

Both are East Front WWII games but they play differently. Try the demo.

thanks junk2drive, I have downloaded the demo, but I would still appreciate some feedback from whose who might have played CMBB and Ostfront full version for a more accurate comparison than what I am able to do with comparing CMBB to the demo of Ostpak. The rest of the questions still stand.

Thanks,
G

The historic campaigns are early war up to including Kursk. I don't recall any Operation Bagration stand alone scenarios either. I know there are scenarios involving Tiger IIs but they are not in the area of Eastern Poland in that time period.

Thanks!, I will have a read of the post. I suppose what is not there can be easily created using the editor tools.

Yes, if you want to use an existing map, easy peezy.
If you want to make a scenario of a specific battle at its historic location the time taken in researching and locating it with Google Earth may take longer than to make the actual map.

I didn't intend to give you a non-answer, but we have been through this many times before. Some people love the differences and some loath them. Until you read the manual and play the game, you really can't tell how you will like it. I do know that most CM vets, including myself, had a hard time not thinking in CM terms when playing this game. If you can open your mind and give it a chance, you may like it.

An ex-CMBB player huh?

Me too. You may have played some CMBB scenarios me or my team created for that game system.

It didn't take long to figure out A LOT of ex-CMBB gamers were going to take a good hard look at PCO. Since I have a little bit of experience with both games I put a comparison together.

You can see it here:

Hope this helps.

Cool stuff, thanks again fellow commanders.

So does the physical copy come with a full printed manual?

Otherwise I might get the digital download version.

Thanks again,

When you go to the purchase page, next to the boxed edition link is a logo for CL. Click the more info and it pops up the 3 editions. CL is

Collector's Edition: This edition comes with a full color printed box, full color printed CD (with your order number and serial number printed on it), a Printed full color manual and a PDF E-Book indexed manual.

My copy is in a DVD box with the manual in color.

thanks junk2drive, I saw that option, but it seems it is not available for Ostfront anymore as I can only select digital download or dvd version but not the collectors edition.

The way that I read it is that they only have the collectors edition.
