Post by Omat »

This Scenarios will not work well with patch 1.8

You need for this Secenario two Mods which you can find here:

For airplanes:
tm.asp?m=3157219

Ingame pictures can be seen here and here!

Hello bcgames

Thank you very much, but I do not think my mods derserve this „title“. To be honest I think such assessment fits more to your work.
You did the Editor Manual as well as the Art Mod List and the Data Mod List. Not to mention two art mods and part of the work which is visible in „War in the East: Don to the Danube!“

So thank you bcgames for all your work

I have a question, sorry if it is a bit silly. It seems that this is a mod scenario, right? Is it possible to use the art with the stock scenario? I ask because it can be more difficult to get a PBEM partner with non-standard scenarios. The issue is I downloaded the art pack and hoped the pointers from stock would work, but now I have no art at all!
thanks for enlightening me....

Hello

Yes you can use the art mods (planes and tank mod) with all stock scenarios.

But in stock scenarios some aircraft and grund elemenr share the same picture:

e.g.: The picture for the Ju 87D and Ju 87D-5 or the Valantime III and Valantime IX are the same. Even if have installed the art mod, with the stock scenario you wil not see diffrent pictures such aircraft or ground elements. Only the Scenario define which picture is assigned to a ground element or aircraft

Only with the modded scenario and the art mod you will have for all units seperated pictures.

Could you explane this point a little bit. I do not understand it.

You downloaded an arte mod e.g.: Aiplanes - art

and followed this Install Insturction?

1.) Backup your original art files which you can find:
\Matrix Games\Gary Grigsby's War in the East\Dat\Art\photo
Select all .bmp files in that folder. create a .zip archive. Rename the archive art_backup.zip
2.) Extract the files from the air_sepia_vx.y or air_bw_v.xy to your \Matrix Games\Gary Grigsby's War in the East\Dat\Art\photo folder and overwrite all files.

Normally you shuld see than with a stock scenario the new art..

May be you have extracted into a wrong folder.

Than do it this way..downlowad the zip file(s). Extract them...go to the folder where you extract them ..copy all and then:

paste it to ...\Matrix Games\Gary Grigsby's War in the East\Dat\Art\photo folder.

I unzipped the photos to the folder, (and just looked to make sure they were there) but in game they don't show up. I am not sure why, but I was sort of assuming that the thing that points each item to its picture got somehow discombobulated. I think (if I remember) that I copied the stock files, but then deleted the ones on the photo folder before I unzipped the new ones, perhaps this screwed up the art pointers????? I will try again and let you know.

Thanks so much for taking time to help me out.

Hello

Normally you simply replace the old art files...therefore should make a back up.

In you photo folder \Matrix Games\Gary Grigsby's War in the East\Dat\Art\photo

there should be some .bmp files:

Axxxx.bmp (x= Number from 0-9 e.g. A0003.bmp) for airplanes

GPyyyy.bmp (y= Number from 0-9 e.g. GP0057.bmp) for ground elemental

Ldzzzz.bmp (z= Number from 0-9 e.g. Ld0956.bmp) for leaders

Are now some *.bmp pictures in it. Maybe could you make a screenshot from you photo folder?

I figured it out! For some reason, the unzip program I was using was just creating empty files, they were present but had 0 size. I had just glanced in the folder and saw they were there, but hadn't noticed they didn't actually contain anything. So I re-un-zipped and all is now working! thanks for your help and thanks for the great work!
