Recon - easier way?

The development team behind the award-winning games Decisive Campaigns: From Warsaw To Paris and Advanced Tactics is back with a new and improved game engine that focuses on the decisive year and theater of World War II! Decisive Campaigns: Case Blue simulates the German drive to Stalingrad and into the Caucasus of the summer of 1942, as well as its May preludes (2nd Kharkov offensive, Operation Trappenjagd) and also the Soviet winter counter-offensive (Operation Uranus) that ended with the encirclement of 6th Army in Stalingrad and the destruction of the axis minor armies. With many improvements including the PBEM++ system, this is a release to watch for wargamers!

Recon - easier way?

Post by abulbulian »

Is there an easier way to do recon on a hex then

1) try and find a recon unit (gl not many)
2) then use it's recon button on a selected hex

Would be much better UI if could simply pick a hex and select recon to get a list of all recon air units available to select one. Right?

I am confident there are no specific AIR RECON units. As far as the mechanics, click the enemy hex, then click on the AIR unit.., everybody can do recon. Fighter have 5 Recon, the other planes have 2.

There are, sort of, for the Germans, maybe not for Soviets. They are marked by SchG and have some fighterss and the HS-123 bi-planes planes as well. I know they are classified as bombers, but I use them as recon.

Not sure what others do for recon.

I play as Soviet and use fighters for recon. It seems to initimidate the Luftwaffe. I haven't seen them for days except
when they do some bombing in their own private Federicus offensive thing. Initially they would intercept the recon
missions, but not any more.
It may be that the 100 or so extra fighters I got from STAVKA has helped with the recon.

I'd like to see the recon system improved the following way:

1. Select hex to be reconed
2. Be able to press an air recon button and then select units to perform recon either from a list button or search for them manually
