ASL/SL ETC Question

Wondering how well conversions of other games will work without leaders and do these other games have card draws?

I understand that the CAPs are supposed to be used as leader bonus but the random cards sometimes makes me crazy.

I don't have it but I wonder if Combat Commander would convert over well? Come to think of it, I don't think it covers the eastern front yet.
