Normandy - Bocage Map

Post by Redleg »

Thanks to a description of Normandy provided by Fradar and a lot of experimentation, I give you a "Hauts-Vents" map. This is based on an actual map of the area and thanks to Fradar, additional details about sunken roads and elevated bocage. A tankers hell, for sure!

This is the scene of 2 scenarios to be included in the next Dirty Dozen.

In the meantime, enjoy. Check the details.

Is there a way to take a peek at the map (and all maps) without setting up a dummy battle and then searching for it in the "custom map" selection screen?

Thanks for the excellent work.

Certainly.

Unzip the map files into the /maps folder.
Go to the scenario editor.
In the bottom center of the screen, you will see a place to load a map.

Note. Check beforehand to see what is in slot 008 of maps folder. If it is something you cherish, find an empty number and jot it down.

Then, download the zipped map into a place such as /save (it will not do any damage there).

Unzip the zipped map file into /save and delete the zipped file.

Rename the unzipped map files that are in /save by changing the numbers to match the empty slot you jotted down.

Then move the pzmap files into /maps and you are all set.

There are many ways to manage scenario and map files - the system I describe is what I do.

Good luck in the bocage!

Thanks Redleg. I knew there would be an easy answer. I've never bothered with scenario design, so that way never occured to me. It makes perfect sense though.
