CG V. 1.06.04 Stalingrad in 1941 (no kidding)
I am trying to get the screen saves over to JPEG so everyone can see this. The German AI is getting itself into another Stalingrad, but this time it is October 1941 (not December 1942 type)!

when i got my butt spanked first time in a PBEM my desire to play against AI became around zero. when i play against a good opponent i simply lose my motivation to play against AI. it's just like playing against a well known guy here who forgets to move the finns by turn 8 and can't get a single pocket done by the end of turn one.[:'(]

Every player's first opponent is the AI. Every computer wargame needs improved AI. AI should allow you to "practice" various strategies before taking on a player. I plan to start PBEM very soon, but was looking for the right version to start with. The campaign games takes a very long period of time to play, and usually a new version comes out in the middle of this effort! Recent PBEM reports seem to have the Whermacht really having Ubermenschen capability, since historical advances are obtained without the Russian side foolishly forbidding retreats and no communication breakdowns occur. As you can see by my AAR, the Battle of Moscow started in early September!

By the way, I am playing the AI on Challenging mode, which is no easy effort. The early release days had many opponents finding problems in this mode, and the German capability is now substantially better! Current AAR seem to have the German Army without significant supply problems (Moscow Supply Fix is not longer decisive). Yes, the AI does have problems surrounding units, but so did the Wermacht when the Russian soldiers were allowed to retreat and fight in a sane fashion .

I played vs AI for about 3 months before playing PvP.
Before playing another person you need to play 1.06.14
There was a major change in .13 which made taking Moscow hard vs player and Stalingrad impossible in 41.
The chain is much shorter now.
You can thank MT and myself for that patch heheh.
The game now for GHC is more about infantry then panzers.

War-in-East Version Campaign Game (Challenging Difficulty Level) With German AI
Stalingrad in 1941
After a gambling AI bid to take Moscow in a "raid" type operation fails, a large part of Army Group Center is encircled and cut off. Then begins the systematic attack on isolated German mechanized units. This is difficult in the mud conditions!

Untrue, at least in one sense - I played the tutorial scenario and jumped straight to PBEM...b/c I think a game like this I would always be annoyed with AI flaws that are inevitable (like you). Most player to player games have a battle for Moscow in September though these days, that's nothing new!

Then why has Army Group Center been annihilated in my game? If you can show me how to display the map images in a nice format on this forum, I will show you step my step. I am playing the Russian side and it's all over at the end of 1941.

What AI difficulty are you on?
