Minor peeve: TF "return using same waypoint" button

Post by Andar »

Got the game a few weeks ago. Absolutely love it. Even bought a 27 inch wide screen monitor so I can better appreciate the beauty of the map. One pet peeve I have, however, is that pesky button you have to click when making a convoy so it will follow the same route back to base. I often forget to press it and have ships blithly sailing right past Tarawa on the way to Pearl or San Fran. Why oh why can't the default setting always be to take the same route back to base? Pretty much 100% of the time that's what you'll be wanting anyways. Anyhoo, minor annoyance, and doesn't really detract from the awesomeness of the game.

There are a number of things like this! Maybe the reasoning centers around making sure we all pay attention to details! After all, that's were the devil is, right?

I like the button, I would only wish that I could set a preference on it.  but, a pretty minor point.  Be a REAL problem if it did not exist at all ....

That's why most forumites use avatars rather than photos of themselves. Exploded heads.

It never used to work for me, but maybe that was before the last update. I just stopped trying to use it and gave the TFs new orders every time. Guess I'll try it again.

Really good suggestion Andar! This really should be the logical default setting.

Great. Does this setting have them refuel at the same waypoints on the way back?

It used to not. "Waypoints" were not part of the original WitP design. AE added them. I might be mistaken, but the "return using the same waypoints" might have been added after in a patch as an enhancement. Some of the improvements developed that way......via long evolution.

I agree in hindsight that it would be nice for the default setting to use same waypoints to return. One less mouse click in a game chock full of them.

As the game is probably finished update wise, I do wish they would have allowed the player to "make and label" way points ie. you could send TF-101 to previously selected hexes like WP1-WP2-WP3 ergo establish sea lanes once instead of every convoy and due to the lack of zoom it can be a PITA chore.

Zuluhour: It would be great to create convoy routes of however many waypoints and fuel stops you want and save them by name or number. However, that's one for the WITP2 wishlist methinks.
