I seen that there wasnt much engine exhaust sprites around and i wasnt very interested in the old ones, so i edited the originals a little bit to give them that afterburner look to the engines. I know to my eyes it looks great but you should be the judge. I seen potential in the originals, but i can go from scratch and make them insane almost like ones on jet afterburner with cool hues.

To install just Save original folder!just incase(doubt any problem will occurs tbh)but better safe then sorry

And then copy paste the new images into WEAPONS FOLDER

computer\(yourdrive)\Matrix Games\Distant worlds\ Images\ Effects\weapons


For engine Sprites images
Remember to backup the original files first.
computer\(yourdrive)mine is C:\Matrix Games\Distant worlds\ Images\ Effects\Enginethrusters

Did you prefer any of the weapon beams or torpedo? and if yes which ones? curious.
thx i am currently working on making each engine exhaust unique, and i keep playing around with weapon sprites. I get a kick outa it.

ahaha nope they didnt, but this wasnt a actual game i played, it was a testing weapons and engine sprites.

Weapon mod is definately needed. I'll give it a DL and a try and comment once I've used it a bit.

I am liking the the weapons mod. The seem a bit more defined than the default weapon textures. The wave weapon is much better than defualt.

A few things to consider...

On the wave weapons or rail guns has anyone considered using a series of blurred up sonic rings to represent them? Of course you'd get a top down view so it wouldn't really be a ring. The only way I can really think of to best describe was the very old comics way of showing telepathy etc. Sort of like this: | | | | | | :only the start ones are smaller and get progressively bigger. Anyway, just a thought, and it may not turn out real good.

Yeah thats a good idea.. but i dont think it would be good for rail gun but the wave weapons yes it would be better, am just thinking how could i make it smaller at the start and bigger at the end without looking like the originals.
I am still working on new Starburners and Vortex engines sprites and continuasly playing around with weapon sprites. I keep testing them and trying out new design. Soon ill come out with a new sprite altogether perhaps. I got 2 new engine sprites. 1 new vortex and 1 new starburner they still need more testing first.

Well to be honest, I tried it myself but as my skills are far from good...it wasn't even worth sharing with the community. The attempt was rather pathetically embarrassing. [:(]

you would have to show me the premature design maybe i can jazz it up a little bit, so i know just what you mean.

I think your saying the first ring is the smallest, second ring medium size and the last, 3rd ring is large and the 4th is very large circle ring.?Or you want it to be just small lines and no circles? small lines that get bigger and larger as they expand away from center but the line do a circle withouth touching each other line?

OK, here is my very embarrassing attempt, but it will give you an idea of how I was thinking when I tried it. It can be done much, much better...

I was really looking for a center line/cylinder that has a fading glow around it. This following attempt was a total failure. [:-]

Like I said, I'm really not very good at this. [:(]

Ok, i did manage to make a really nice wave weapon image. 4 new unique wave weapons with the same colors as the originals. they are amazing!! even tho i dont use wave weapons on my ships cause they cause reputation lose for me. Just tested them and fantastic.
But hey let the Distant World community be the judge. download em and try em!.
They make this game so much more enjoyable, eye candy
I am totaly over the difference in wave weapon visual.
Give me your thoughts.

hopefuly this is kinda!? what you meant with them looking like your picture you gave me, I used your image to give a model wasnt that easy tho.

Those are nice, but they are the area weapons. I'm talking about the Wekkarus special tech wave weapon...the one that looks like boomerangs when it fires.

However, I will be using your area weapons update, they look fantastic.

Oh! that weapon ... ahaha I was on the completly wrong path, and made a sweet wave waepon sprite because of you.. lol
I have a sprite already kinda like a boomerang look to it.
Funny thing is ive never actualy seen the Wekkarus special tech wave weapon.. i have it on one of my games ill go take a look.

i completed the beam_7 Wekkarus wave weapon. I dont think it looks like yours but the idea is there. i will try to improve.[:D]
