Witp and windows 8

I just installed windows 8 and witp will not run properly. Game ran good on windows 7. this happens in all scenarios. game starts out good, and then after a few turns, when i ask for any kind of ship, acft, port data the data comes out as black blocks for the selected window. game also runs slow. it acts like a memory problem. I went back and tried the compatability using the windows 7 option, but that did'nt work either. any ideas out there?
