In a recent game (playing as the Central Powers) the Entente were using Salonica to reinforce Greece. How does that work? As an Entente player will i receive a message to say that I can use this port?

Yes, the entente player gets control of Salonika if:
- Bulgaria has joined or is about to join the central powers
- Britain, France and Serbia are still members of the Entente
- Greece is Neutral

EDIT: this was added with the last patch, and is announced in an event

I got that event, but not sure what it means for me, since Greece is neutral, all you can do it port ships there? Not sure I see the purpose or advantage, but I could have missed it.

It looks like a corridor opens up that allows you to send troops from Salonica into Serbia.

I haven't done anything but look at the map after the event (i.e. I haven't tried to station Ent troops there) but according to the map it is surrounded by greek hexes. Perhaps the idea is to build troops there and ship them by seato Serbia? Although I have not tried that either!

No - you should be able to land them there and transport overland to Serbia. This action does not bring Greece into the game as a belligerent.

Ahhh i will give that a try. I have never tried as everytime the Salonica event fired I looked at the map and thought it would not allow overland transport!

If you garrison Salonika you'll get control over the Macedonian land hexes.
