New Install problem

Post by Speedysteve »

Hi all,

I've just got a new Windows 8 laptop after my last one died.

The game seemed to install ok but when I load up my latest turn against Fabertong the detail screens of any ship, TF or base etc are transparent like the attached and I can't make anything out.

Does anyone have any ideas what's going on and how to solve it?

Thanks

Check if you have the same issue in windowed mode.

Thanks. It's fine in windowed mode.

The game runs VERY slow though when I try to scroll around, click on anything, select anything. For example if I click on anything it takes about 4-5 seconds for the page to open up! Took an hour to do a 20 min turn!

Being a non-techy guy are there any hints anyone would have to speed things up?

Here's my system stats:

Pavilion G6-2213sa laptop

AMD Quad Core A8-4500M
8GB DDR3 SDRAM
AMD Radeon HD 7640G Graphics

Thanks

Have you tried using the -dd_sw switch?

Woohoo. No more slow downs [:)]

Added -cpu4 -SingleCpuOrders -multiaudio -deepColor -dd_sw -altFont -f -px1366 -py768

And made it run in Compatibility Mode XP3

It's all good.

Thanks all
