Weapons Type and Instant Combat

Post by wadortch »

I am in a PBEM game and to enable it to be finished in our lifetimes, we are using instant combat only.

A question I have not seen answered in the manual or the readme file for the update is whether weapons type makes any difference in instant combat? It is interesting to experiment with arming units with all sorts of things but if it has no bearing on instant combat resolution, we will turn the option off in our next game...

Thanks.

From the manual: "Instantaneous combat uses the rules of quick combat." Weapons matter in quick combat if they have different QC ratings, e.g. musket has QC rating of 1 while mini-rifle has QC of 2 (as represented in the game). In the manual this is represented as a percentage = 25% x the QC rating from the game. This is the bonus to damage caused by units with the weapon, so musket gives a 25% bonus while mini-rifle gives 50%.
