Trapj v. Case Blue Scenarios

The development team behind the award-winning games Decisive Campaigns: From Warsaw To Paris and Advanced Tactics is back with a new and improved game engine that focuses on the decisive year and theater of World War II! Decisive Campaigns: Case Blue simulates the German drive to Stalingrad and into the Caucasus of the summer of 1942, as well as its May preludes (2nd Kharkov offensive, Operation Trappenjagd) and also the Soviet winter counter-offensive (Operation Uranus) that ended with the encirclement of 6th Army in Stalingrad and the destruction of the axis minor armies. With many improvements including the PBEM++ system, this is a release to watch for wargamers!

Trapj v. Case Blue Scenarios

Post by Bismarck2761 »

Liquid Sky expressed the view that he preferred, as the Axis, the Trappenj. starting position over Case Blue. As he points out, Germans can clean up Crimea/get East faster, but face a larger Russian force and will take more casualties. I come up very much the other way, and find Trappenj. very very hard on the Axis (if playing the AI, Case Blue becomes a cake walk with a few plays). Other views?

Imo Trappenjagd favour the soviet player while Caseblue favours the german player, so yeah trappenjagd is a lot harder for the germans.

Even if trappenjagd allows you to advance further at the caseblue start date the germans have always had less troops and the soviets more in my games.

With the soviets strategic position starting on the defense they can also get a lot of prestige just playing ambition cards at the start since they are really on the offense for the first few weeks.

And of course in Trappenjagd they have plenty of time to form a stable line in the hills around voronoshilovgrad(sp?) forcing the germans to go around to the north.
