Wish I could but I just don't have the time to do it justice. Good luck to the betas, I'm happy to see this stage is set.

Testers Needed ASAP

We are starting Beta Testing for a new game and are looking for interested volunteers who wish to do something interesting this Spring. The game is as follows:

Piercing Fortress Europa: The next game from Frank Hunter, now entering beta testing. Focuses on the WWII Allied Invasions of Sicily and Italy with many "what-if" options. Medium complexity, operational scale with Divisions and Brigades as units.

If you are interested and have the time to test, please send an e-mail to the below address that indicates your testing experience (if any), why you are interested, how many hours per week you would be available, and your computer system configuration.

You can send your email to karlisr@matrixgames.com

For those who wish to apply it would be nice to know if it is for just Sicily and Italy or all MWiF [&:]

michael I agree with you 100% and I am a little surprised by Froonps post, I have always enjoyed his expertice here year in and year out, but I find this is a serious request by Karlis to start the begining of the end of this endeavor by Steve and
Matrix, we could use all the help we can get for the next month or so.

I also thought that after Karlis post that the forums would start buzzing again with anticipation of this brilliant game coming to the computer, so either none of the old guard is still around or they feel we have been down this road before and dont believe what is about to happen. So lets keep this on topic PLEASE! Sorry no smileys on this one!

Bo, I for one usually dont have the time and right now even less than usual. Anyway, I never have liked Beta Tester voluntary labour. And I kind of lost the spirit or the energy about this game the first time it was officially delayed, like 2 or 3 years about, now I am waiting for it, and eager for it but I refuse to give it a date in my hopes, so I simply don't care how much time it can take to beta test it.

I do not think you took my post in the way I meant it, several years ago I was in that lost spirit mode, remember you felt I was trolling [;)] I tried to change by joining the beta team and realized how difficult this programming was for Steve, the above post by Karlis was to have anyone interested in helping to complete this game in the next few months to please join us now.

I understand your feelings Jose and respect them and if you have no time to help that is fine too. I am just suprised at the lack of enthusiasm by the many posters here after an announcement that everyone here was waiting to here for many years. Nothing more nothing less, sorry if anyone took offence to the post, just looking for help.

This news demands a Hitler Downfall parody:

***********************************************************
"Hitler Hears World In Flames Is About To Enter Final Beta"
***********************************************************

*scene - inside the Fuhrer bunker during the Final Days*

Jodl: Mein Fuhrer, we have updated your laptop and it's ready to go for multiplayer wargaming fun. *pointing to map*

Hitler: What are you talking about? I specifically told you not to take it out of storage unless World in Flames was ready for release.

*Jodl and Kreps exchange worried glances*

Kreps: Mein Fuhrer...

Jodl: Mein Fuhrer, Matrix Games just asked for playtesters for World in Flames final beta...

*Hitler, hands shaking, begins to take off his glasses*

Hitler: Everyone who got tired of waiting and no longer gives a shit leave the room
*watches as all exit except Jodl, Burgdorf and Kreps*

Hitler *screaming* What kind of trick is this? I'm not in the mood for jokes. I've got the Russians breathing down my ass...

Jodl: It's true - it was just posted on the Matrix forums

Hitler *screaming louder* On the forums!? And you believe them!? How many threads are there on that forum saying WIF is almost done? You can't tell me because you can't count that high! I believed Goering when he told me he could make Churchill surrender with just with the Luftwaffe! I believed Himmler when he told me the Americans were a bunch of pussies who wouldn't fight! I believed Balmer when he told me Windows 8 would be better than Windows 7! I am sick and tired of being lied to!

*sounds of sobbing from the corridors outside*

Kreps: Mein Fuhrer - this time the opening post says they are approaching the finish line...

Hitler *screaming louder than ever* The finish line! I'll give you the Finnish line - it was right outside Leningrad! They wouldn't move it a meter south! The Russians didn't even bother to fortify that side of town! Finish line! The General Staff are idiots to fall for that one! I should have liquidated you all like Stalin did!

Burgdorf: Mein Fuhrer, I must protest!

Hitler *screaming loudest of all* Cowards and Traitors! You have all been sitting around getting soft playing crap like World at War and Strategic Command! Don't you realize what this is? It's World In Flames! The crown jewel, the white whale, the ultimate World War two strategy game! Australians invented it! Australians! When is the last time they did anything worthwhile? I've been waiting and waiting and waiting. I haven't given up because I know I'll never play anything as awesome! Did you know I set aside an entire room in Vienna to keep the original boardgame set up for over a year! A year! I was a freak'in house painter and I had to live in that same room! I can still see that accursed cat leaping onto the table...

*Hitler, spent, collapses back into his chair*

*Kreps and Burgdorf exchange worried glances*

Hitler *in an exhausted whisper* Finish line...can it really be true? It has to be. I can't take it anymore. There is nothing left. I swear if this is another B.S. posting, I'll shoot myself.

Hi guys

Amusing Downfall parody. Not a joke at all though, we really expect this to be the the final testing pass for the final push to release.

Let loose the hounds of WAR!

I believe you are suppose to first "Cry 'Havoc'". From Shakespeare's Julius Caesar:

ANTONY:
Blood and destruction shall be so in use
And dreadful objects so familiar
That mothers shall but smile when they behold
Their infants quarter'd with the hands of war;
All pity choked with custom of fell deeds:
And Caesar's spirit, ranging for revenge,
With Ate by his side come hot from hell,
Shall in these confines with a monarch's voice
Cry 'Havoc,' and let slip the dogs of war;
That this foul deed shall smell above the earth
With carrion men, groaning for burial.
Steve

[:D] Nope that would be... [:D]

Act 3, Scene 1, line 273 of William Shakespeare's Julius Caesar: "Cry 'Havoc!', and let slip the dogs of war".

I might be interested. Can you let us know what sort of time commitment is needed from beta testers?
