Air unit low moral

Post by Chris21wen »

I have a Helen I (9 a/c) flying ASW or Search from Cam Ranh Bay (level 4) with more than enough AV. The Patrol levels are 60/rest 20; supply OK no damage to a/f not it strike range; commander leadership 62 insp 56; group exp 62, search and ASW above 50.

Problem is it every 20 turns or so it's moral falls to below 50 but why so quickly when I have similar units with almost identical stats and group setting losing moral much mcuh slower if at all. What am I missing???

Range can be a factor. As could be the search sectors assigned; some are just inherently more dangerous than others.

Also are you certain that post the beta changes to av support, you still have sufficient.

Could you put screenshots of what is there etc.

60/20 is very low, 50/50 for SR2.
What admin skill on commander?
What alt use during search and range?

My last setting was range 9 max for Helen Ia and no arcs. I have tried various arc/ranges as I have with height (1000 ASW, 6000 Search) with different and ops but it makes no difference. This has not just happened this unit has contiually been losing moral quickly from the start of the game and for the most part it has been ASW ops. It is only recently been doing search and although it improved slightly it's still losing moral quicker than similar units with similar setting.

Admin skill only 39 but why should admin skill have an effect on moral?

I think you just got a bad "these guys are a bunch of slackers" DR. [:D]

Seriously, the only other factor I can think of besides those mentioned is that maybe the pilots are newbies with low experience?

Not that. All the relevent stats are ove 50, exp over 60. Maybe your right they just want to go home and create electronic gadgets.

these guys need to go on Train 100 range 0 until their morale reaches 99, then they can return to active ops - if you've got them on 50 or 60% ops, the remaing 50 or 40% should be on rest. if you've only been letting them recover morale into the high 80's, they'll degrade again, more quickly than if you train them back to 99.

OTOH, I'm kinda convinced that some airgroups are inherently awful. I've got a sqn of USArmy A-24 DBs in Oz, they just won't make a Naval strike, despite having adequate fighter escort available.

That's what I've been doing.

I've always thought that setting something like 60/20 means 60% on ASW, 20% rest unavailable with the remaining 20% are at rest but available to be called on for ops. Not sure how that works with ASW though but it does for cap and naval ops.
