Gas attack? Where and by whom?

Post by GreyWolf16 »

Oh how I whish there was a replay function. After an action sequence by the bad guys was over I received a message that the world was shocked by the use of poison gas. Who used it and where though? Was there a graphical reprentation of a gas attack that I missed or it all abstracted?

If you do not have the technology for gas attacks researched yet, then it means the other side used it. The first bombardment by the side that first finishes gas research is considered to be a poison gas attack. All subsequent bombardments by that country will include poison gas, so it's a good idea to research gas mask technology as soon as you can.

But no visual cue on the map? I presume it was Germany so I'm guessing that all subsequent German bombarments include gas? Bosch bastards! Thanks Jonathan.

Usually when a side completes development of a poison gas tech, that side has the option to upgrade (or not upgrade) an artillery unit(s) to use that tech, but cannot fire that artillery on that turn he chooses to upgrade. Until an artillery unit attacks/fires a poison gas round, will the poison gas message pop up, (usually as soon as it happens), which will give you an idea which unit has it. Sometimes you might catch the other side making upgrades (spotting upgrade symbols). If so, it may give you a chance on your turn to anticipate a gas attack. There is not much about gas in the manual, only on pg.61.
