question about line-of-sight indicator

Post by vladn »

Would it be possible to add something like a visual "line of sight" indicator for the current facing of a unit?

For example, while looking for an ambush spot for an AT gun or tank during deployment mode, my method to find a decent field of fire involves a lot of mouse hovering with the "fire" command selected.

This LOS Indicator would be activated only when a certain key is pressed, and it would show the unit's FOV for the current ambush/defend unit orientation, using the same color codes as the fire command.
(similar with the leader command radius displayed with the Space key)

On a related note, is the deployment of AT guns leaved entirely to the AI to choose, or are there a number of predefined reliable spots from which it would select one?

RE: question about line-of-sight indicator

That is a good suggestion and something we have discussed from time to time for CC. It's very processor-intensive to generate that sort of LOS info 'on the fly' but there are ways to manage it. Definitely something we'll keep in mind for future releases.

AI unit placement (of all types) is done by code that evaluates the terrain of the map. There are no pre-coded positions.

Thanks,

Steve
