Just a hint if you are to play a human opponent. The pocket west of Zhitomir on T2 will be broken as there is a huge gap around Proskurov as well as north and south of Zhitomir.

Why did you put Admin Points at 400 for both sides?

Just a hint, when making pockets like the turn 1 Minsk-Bialystok pocket, do not attack too much with your infantry of 9th and 4th Army. You don't want to rout those Soviets out of the pocket. Then, it is desirable as the Germans to take the two ports in Courland on turn 1 to prevent the Soviets from getting out a couple of units via ships. Oh, and last but not least you would want to increase your difficulty. Turn 2 and already in Smolensk, a little bit unfair to the AI isn't it. [:D]

You are right; I didn’t realize that the soviets could be rout out of the pocket until the next turn. It was the first time I play Wite but I am a veteran in other war games.

I set all the setting, except for admin points, as normal because the workbook says that is reflecting the history. As for maximizing admin points, I thought it is natural for the high command to regroup its troops, and above all, it is the key for the axis to success.

It wasn’t that easy as the map tells, I did have my bad times and mostly I needed to push my troops to their limit. Luck was a big factor as well.

In the north, my priority was to advance my Pz divisions as quickly as possible, as we would see in the end the entire soviet forces in the north would be annihilated after Leningrad being circled.

Look at the beginning of turn 2, if I couldn’t capture Smolensk in this turn, it might take me several turns to overcome the soviet defense there. And my goal wasn’t just to take it, I have to rout those newly form soviet units in this turn as well, which was crucial to clear the way to Moscow.
