Need a quarantine button!

And the AI should be able to use it too!

The idea is tell your ships (private including) to NOT go to a certain system, or group of systems, to avoid feeding silver mists (special early game ones), or suicidal runs on blockades...

Agreed. I spend way too long babysitting my automated escorts to not fly towards the silvermist system. They invariably slip through and now I've got a growing threat that I'll just keep ignoring....

+1

The game needs a way for you to participate in trying to stop the plague from spreading. Right now, you just have to let it run its course and hope for the best.

I think a better more automated way would be simply to have a flag set anytime a hostile is spotted in the system
While this flag is active, no non-combat ships (exception being scouts) will be sent there by the AI, this flag being removed whenever you have a scout/combat ship hit the system and seeing no hostiles in system (auto-done obviously if you have bases/colonies in system already and all hostiles are gone)

Out of all the possible solutions I feel that is probably the most basic that will work for 90% of scenarios (might even be worth having something attached to said flag telling the AI the strength of the hostile force)
Should also work against silvermist (except AI might still feed scouts and fleets to it, but no freighters at least)

Agreed. Had the issue where pirates controlled the space above my planet in another system and the private ships just kept flying to it and dying.

I don't believe in a full-auto solution, because sometimes you might want to do it manually for other reasons.

For example, you might not want your constructors killing themselves on Kaltors trying to get a world destroyer...

In fact, you might want to let the AI attempt to build the world destroyer, and when yo uhave time, visit it later, kill the AI constructor and finish yourself.

Also, you might want to tell the AI to avoid a system on someone else territory... I have a particular issue with refueling ships deciding that a gas cloud into someone else territory is a confy place and needing me frequently to put them on manual...

Lol, you are officially as evil as I am. [:D]

I would like the ability to tell my ships to avoid a planet/system if there is danger there, but also don't want full auto, I might need to over-ride for some reason.

It could work just like blockade, click on a planet edge, a border turns red, no ships can land there.
