Retrofit defense base new design doesn't show

Hi,

I have a defense base over my home planet. I upgraded the defense base design (added long range scanners, does that even make sense??) but the new design doesn't show up in the dropdown when I click 'retrofit' from the 'ships and bases' screen. What am I understanding wrong?

Try Rt-Clicking the Base itself, or using the selection window in the lower left.
It is possible to design an oversized base so after adding the scanner it might a bit too big.

I could indeed retrofit to latest design by the button on the selection panel. Weird that it doesn't show up in the retrofit dropdown on the 'ships and bases' screen.

Could be your latest and greatest design might be a bit too large .. Game lets your green-light manual designs that are too large to build with a simple warning ... But you won't be able to build/retrofit to them until you research bigger construction capacity ...

It's not too large because I have been able to do the retrofit by pressing the 'retrofit to latest design' button in the selection panel on the bottom left. It's just that the design doesn't show up in dropdown on the dialog that pops up when you press retrofit in the 'ships and bases' screen. The design did have a warning that it could only be build on colonies (or something like that) but the base is over my home system and seeing that I was able to retrofit by using the button on the select panel, I think it's a bug that the design didn't show up in the dropdown. New designs for ships did show up. The only thing I can think of that I did different with the base is that I hadn't set the defense base design to manual upgrade and manual retrofit (they were both set to auto at the time I edited the design for the defense base).
