10% less VPs lost, no chance of losing the Admiral in charge.

If only I had know that earlier. How many times have I lost the admiral of a fleet when his ship went down.

Do you always lose the admiral when the ship is sunk, not scuttled?

Maybe I've just been unlucky then, because I always seem to, even when the ship takes several days to sink

I do it sometimes. More often as the IJN than the Allies.

Anything to save a few VPs.
If something's not working you might want to tunk it a dite.

This brings up the question; Do you want to keep an Admiral who has lost his ship? Or is this an alternate to firing him. :D

yeah i was reading the manual last night and found it...but didnt know your admiral could survive that really helps as I lost a pretty good one(admiral) the other day trying to nurse a hopelessly crippled ship back home.thanks for your responses.

Why is it that I loose valuable personel (admirals and pilots especially) when the ship (usually a carrier) they are on sinks - when they are moored next to an island (no base, but still an island well within my ZOC).
Are they just faking their own drownings (The carrier in question took 3 days to sink, so I dropped anchor next to the nearest island etc) and hiding in the jungle with nubile young native-women???

Surely if the ship is sinking that slowly, next to a pacific island (so almost always, shallow anchorage etc). the life boats have time to do several trips etc.

Of course, this begs the question.... why doesn't the Admiral transfer his flag to another ship? This is probably not applicable to UV (given that it probably requires new code) but may be able to be implemented in WITP. Of course, I wouldn't place it high in the priority list, since it's really a minor issue.

Speaking of admirals, I would prefer that the default TF CO be assigned the most senior captain in the task force IF the TF has less than a capital ship. I occasionally forget to micromanage the assignment for minor fast transport or transport runs. I lost Scott to an air raid on a three-ship fast transport run when the lead ship sunk.

I agree, it doesn't make much sense when the ship sinks limping back to port.

I dunno, abstract is out as the Admiral dying from his wounds or something. Of course, if the flagship is hit and falls out of the TF, the Admiral instantly teleports back into the Admiral's Lounge.

Sorta goofy.

Well, the teleporting back to the lounge isn't that far fetched.
When the Phillipines was damaged and looked like it was going to sink, "Admiral" MacArthur teleported himself back to Brisbane (he said something about going for smokes?)

Captains go down with their ships - Admirals have a light plane standing by . . . :p
