Those of you that know Des Wallace (aka Divepac88) will be saddened by the news that he recently passed away. He lost his long battle with cancer and died in hospital on June 7th. His wife asked me to share the following:
Hi Chickenboy
This is mrs divepac this is the only way that i can currently work out in getting in contact with you.
I'm really sorry to let you know this way, but divepac(aka des wallace) passed away on the 7th june in the local hospital. His cancer got the better of him. He had his head with him right to the end and was not in any pain as he slipped away from me. He did not suffer at all. All I am trying to remember now is he is at peace and not in any pain or discomfort. Anyway I'm really sorry to let you find out this way. Please pass this info onto your fellow game players inwhich he most enjoyed playing.

I know Des felt some close bonds with and within this community.
I'll miss you old buddy.

I hope this is as untrue as it was the last time he was reported dead.

I recall reading a DivePac post a few weeks ago and thinking, "I'm glad he's back and so active in the game." Did he ever have a cross word for anybody? I don't think so. He was one of those gents that just seemed to harvest universal good humor.

If he was up on the board, he probably had a good laugh either at or with us.

He was around as long as I was here, and longer. A good guy.
An aside: this shows once again the necessity of giving someone the means to communicate with the forum after we're gone. Too many folks just disappear and we never know . . .

This is sad news. He was a good man around the forum. Maybe we should send some flowers or something. I will miss that Emu pic.

AW1steve is moving to the St. Louis area and he'll likely find out if something happens to me and vice versa. I expect you all to have a huge party if I bite the dust.
