COTA Game Manual

Command Ops: Battles From The Bulge takes the highly acclaimed Airborne Assault engine back to the West Front for the crucial engagements during the Ardennes Offensive. Test your command skills in the fiery crucible of Airborne Assault’s “pausable continuous time” uber-realistic game engine. It's up to you to develop the strategy, issue the orders, set the pace, and try to win the laurels of victory in the cold, shadowy Ardennes.
Command Ops: Highway to the Reich brings us to the setting of one of the most epic and controversial battles of World War II: Operation Market-Garden, covering every major engagement along Hell’s Highway, from the surprise capture of Joe’s Bridge by the Irish Guards a week before the offensive to the final battles on “The Island” south of Arnhem.

COTA Game Manual

Post by Magpius »

Bought and installed.
COTA automenu screen, BFTB Game menu. BFTB game manual.
As someone who did not buy the original COTA or (HTTR for that matter) are there specific game manuals available for download?
I'd like to see at least some scenario write up/ overview like there is for BFTB, and a historical or suggested scenario play sequence.

I had the original COTA game with its manual, and the BFTB manual covers all that was in the COTA manual and now more as the BFTB reflects the newer version of the engine. The BFTB manual works absolutely fine for Battles for Greece. They probably judged - and I agree - that it wasn't worth spending time updating screenshots and screen captures with Battles for Greece in-game screen captures to expose the same rules and concepts.

In terms of historical or chronological play sequence for COTA, you can still refer to the original COTA Scenario Complexity Matrix done by MarkShot's for the original:
COTA Scenario Complexity

Of course, Battles for Greece does not contain the Crete and North African scenarios which will come in the Med pack, but all the others are there. There is a column by which you can sort with start time of the scenario, so if you want to play the Greece campaign, sort them by date. Watch out though as some of the scenarios are "what-ifs" so not historical (you have the read the scenario description to see if this is a what-if). The first historical scenario to play is First Clash at Veve, featuring when the XL Panzer Korps came tumbling down from the Monastir Gap in Yugoslavia into Greece and had to cross the Kledi Pass against a motley Allied blocking force.
