Allied HQs in Austrailia, early war

Post by wga8888 »

I have the SWPac in Townsville, Australia Command in Sydney (is Brisbane better?). South Pacific is in Suva as Noumea is IJN occupied. My question is what is the best use of Aus I Corps? Should it be in N Australia (Darwin, Wyndham, Derby, Broome) attached to SW Pac or Australin command? what have other players done?

If the Japanese player wants Darwin and the 3 other bases on that part of the Aussie coast, let them. Later you can amass a formidable force and without air or naval support march and retake what was once yours.

Remember to throw your muscle forward to early in the war is to waste it. Don't fritter away your assets, rather pick favorable places to fight where you can be kept supplied and the risk of being flanked is minimal.

SWPAC and SOPAC are fine where they are for now in your game. The Aussie I Corps would be best used in Brisbane and later move up to the Townsville, Charter Towers area. Don't lose Syndney, Melbourne or Auckland as those bases have shipyards that are very valuable to fix or upgrade subs and DDs.

I never thought that doing an AAR would be so time consuming and difficult.
