Any relationship between mining and planet quality?

Does planet quality have any effect on mining? Is it a waste to mine planets and asteroids with a 0% quality? I don't see anything in the encyclopedia about this. Any information would be appreciated. Thanks.

No, mining rates are impacted by quality. Quality impacts the following factors as far as I know:

1) amount of taxes that can be collected after the planet is colonized
2) rate of population growth
3) maximum population level (size also impacts this)

One person reported it also impacted happiness level - lower quality planets had lower happiness level - but this was never confirmed or denied so don't know if it is true.
