'43 GC Allied Player Wanted

Post by Turner »

Looking for a Allied player who can run a '43 campaign. I have played one PBEM '43 campaign before.

PM if interested.

Well, I have a PBEM turn ready for a allied player.

In the meantime I'm exploring the 20th feb '44 campaign vs the AI.

What house rules do you have in mind?

I prefer at least:
No airfield attacks on turn one.
German research follows type progression. I.E. no TA 152 factories until at least one squadron of Doras is in combat.
Allied player does not use exploit to use escorts from out of command.

I forgot:

No attacking units suffering the return to target bug.

I agree the rules are reasonable. There is a bug concerning Luftflotte Süd Ost though that is heavily increasing intercept times. I've not yet been able to negate that bug, do you have any experience of it or otherwise any info on that?

I have a turn ready however the type progression rule (most interesting btw) will have me re-do the first turn and industry setup.

I am not aware of a bug with Luft. Sud Ost. What is the effect you are seeing? Are you referring to long launch delay times?

We might want to propose to the group that a progression be sorted out and agreed upon. The only one I have is for the Talonsoft version of the game. Much changed, especially engine requirements. I could make a stab at changing it but there are people around here that know a whole lot more than I do about what drove the German production.

I'm very familiar with the Ta152 development and in last quarter 1943 the A/B version was on RLM's table, prototyped and tested ready for production. They gave thumbs down because they didn't think it offered enough improvement over the FW190A model in production, at least not enough to warrant retooling and downtime of a significant portion of the industry. The A/B versions (B was for Nachtjagd) were essentially heavily armed Zerstörers intended to replace the Bf110 fleet of daytime heavy fighters. This early version of the 152 was powered by the Jumo 213A which later proved itself capable of much more than 2000 hp in the FW190D series. However, by '43 this engine did not impress much despite it's potential, and the RLM did not give the A/B versions approval.

The Ta152A/B is comparable to the C version in game, it has the same armament but where it break completely with the in-game C version is that the Jumo 213A didn't give it very much in performance, not in that early stage of engine development anyway. So your type progression rule still stand from a gameplay perspective, even if the FW190D series was put into production very much as a emergency solution to field something better than the A up until the Ta152 started to leave the factories in significant numbers.

Anyway, about the readiness bug on Süd Ost there's not much one can do.

I'll set up a new campaign and have it ready for you tomorrow most likely. Is that ok?

You should have the first turn in your mail.

Let the mayhem begin...
