Little preview

Germany At War: Operation Barbarossa 1941 is an elegant turn-based design, inspired by classics such as Panzer General, but with more of a historical focus. You command the German forces through a branching historical campaign covering the entire 1941 campaign as well as part of the 1942 campaign. Dozens of scenarios stretch from the Soviet border all the way to Archangel and towards Astrakhan, the original military goals of Operation Barbarossa. Step into a wargame where your performance will rewrite history, through an addictive combination of compelling gameplay, realistic events and challenging battles.

Little preview

Post by Ronald Wendt »

Hello,

we are soon releasing a new update for Germany at War. One new feature we added is that units now have sashes to mark the army or army group they are in.
This will make things easier in the screens were you pick units for new direction.
The tooltip was also expanded with the name of those superior units.

This is how it looks like:

Another important change are the new deploy rules. As wanted by many players deploy hexes now can be used only once. Undo for deploy is possible until the unit took action or the next was placed on the map.
Deploy hexes now also have a new appearance to differ them from supply hexes that can permanently used to deploy units:

A way to mark all units belonging to the same formation is excellent.
I hope the colour palette is large enough to cover many formations (how many?).
I also hope the colour markings are visible on the units in the map mode, that would make it easier to plan moves in scenarios with a lot of units.

Great update! ..But I still prefer a new color scheme for the land tiles. It's too bland. Please change to something more colorful. but great job on the 3D models, I like that better than Panzer Corps. (I'm very visual when it comes to games). I'm holding off on starting a new campaign til a nice update is made. Thanks.

Even better would be to allow the scenario designer to define the formation colours ie by assigning RBG values in the xml-file.

The formation colors look very nice in the HQ screen.
Any reason they do not display on the units in map mode?
That would help players keeping the historical formations together and make for more realistic play IMO.

How do you set the formation colours in the xml scenario-file?
I saved the Drive On Stalingrad scenario and expected something in the xml-file that would hint at the blue formation colour in the HQ-screen in-game. There were no new fields as far as I could see.

Thanks

currently they are a marker to differ them especially in campaigns when you move them between army groups.

This might be expanded in future updates, we are considering several steps - but we cannot promise anything right now.

Its usually determined in a campaign file and cannot be adjusted in a map right now. See above.
The sashes you see on a sinlge map atm. are default ones.

Regards,
