Is this game worth the price
Currently playing War in the East against an opponent. We are looking for a new game as WITE seems to have run it's course. Is War in the Pacific worth buying.
Thanks,
Wes

WitP AE has tremendous depth. It takes some effort to learn, but once you learn it, the re-playability is probably the highest in Matrix's catalog. You can play the same scenario over and over again and still get something out of each playing. One reason this forum is still so busy years after the release of the game.
My sig line sort of sums it up, for the cost of play per hour, it's the least expensive games out there.

All I can say is I've been playing this game for 10 years (?) now - between the original remake (WitP) and the AE version. If you added up all the hours I have spent on this game I think Matrix would be paying me to play it by now. Honestly if you can stand the steep learning curve and are willing to put the time into it to learn it, then its one of the best games ever. Most games cost the same amount and you play them roughly 40-60 hours and never again. Play Japan and you will put 40-60 hours just into the first couple turns of the grand campaign

Actually, the price should appear cheap to you. But as with crack cocaine it will lead to a lifetime of misery and dependency. Run away, run away now while you still have a chance!

As Bill says, the fact that the WITP forum is still going strong after all these years (probably one of the strongest on Matrix) should tell you something about the worth of the game. Many people in this forum have been around since Uncommon Valor came out, the precursor to WITP.

Once you get the game, you'll never know how you lived without it.[;)] This game also has mods you can use. The possiblites are endless.[8D]

Also WITPAE is, hands down, the best cure against Onanism and sex addiction syndrome... once you play it enough you won't need anything else to answer to your biological stimolus
RE: Is this game worth the price
And the support is ongoing ... something that is VERY rare in the industry.

RE: Is this game worth the price
I´ve played both games quite extensively. WITE was a very good game but I grew tired of it after 4-6 months. But I have been playing WITP/WITP:AE for 7 years now. That should tell you something! [;)]

Yes, it's worth it.

YES

You have enemies? Good. That means you've stood up for something, sometime in your life
RE: Is this game worth the price
If you put it in terms of hours of entertainment, you spend about the same money to go to three movies (I think) that MIGHT give you six hours of interesting entertainment, where this game will give you hundreds and more. The math is simple; get the game and give a movie a miss.
RE: Is this game worth the price
I must have clocked THOUSANDS of hours on this game, and I'm not a heavy player. The hours-to-price ratio is nuts.

Shoot, to get everything done for the first turn for Japan you might spend 40-60 hours on. And, although the turns go quicker, 15 min for one in July of 1945 for Japan, the game is more of an experience to go through than a game.ORIGINAL: Xargun

I played one scenario (Guadacanal), then launched into me first campaign versus the AI, which is in 1943.
Already its been a good return on the cost, and I see many more years of playing ahead of me.
