Missing magazines on ships!

Hi everyone,

playing around with the editor, I found several frigates (I checked the Perry class and German F122 class) are missing their helicopter magazines.
That means embarked aircraft are unable to rearm on those ships. In case of the Perry class, the embarked LAMPS-helicopters are also unable to replenish their stocks of sonobouys because there is no place to store them.

I seem to be unable to add the magazine to the ship, because it's not on the list when I try to add mounts, unlike the "generic mine magazine", for example. The latter is also the only way to place mines on dedicated mine layers, which seem to miss mine magazines when they are placed by the editor (I checked the German Sachsenwald class as well as the Danish Falster class). You need to manually add mine magazines to employ these ships as mine layers, even though these classes are listed as mine layers in the database.

The Arleigh Burke class (Flight II) is a ship where the helicopter magazine is not missing. When you place it with the editor, there are already a few Hellfire and Penguin missiles in there.

As I see is, this could be a major problem for scenario building until this is fixed, because ASW frigates aren't of much use when you can't actually replenish their helicopters.

Yes, some ships are missing helo/aircraft magazines at the moment. It's not as big a problem as you'd think. Usually you can just use another magazine on the ship (though you can run into item limits on some mags). If I recall there is also a script that can be run to add a specific magazine to a platform - Ragnar has the specifics. Lastly at this time there is no need to have magazine space for sonobuoys or drop tanks.

Ah, thanks, my sailors just found a way to cram a dozen Mk46 torpedos in the 76mm gun mount. [:D]
Sonobuoys seem to be in unlimited supply, too. [8D]

Still, I really think you should make available a list of issues like that. At this time, there are a lot of inconsistencies in CMANO. Players who already knew Harpoon can sometimes track down the issues, and often there's a workaround, but people who don't know what to look for might not be able to tell if there's a bug, if there's something missing in 1.0 or if they're simply doing something wrong.

Yeah, there are certainly complexities when you scratch the surface in places in Command.

The Devs are planning a FAQ and I'm sure they're watching these threads for likely topics.

To be fair, one shouldn't dismiss these issues as mere complexities. There are some real inconsistencies in the simulation right now. In the case of the DICASS sonobuoys, when you try to ready a helicopter on a ship, the interface clearly states that neither sonobuoys nor drop tanks are available on base. There's no way to know that you can just click the "ready" button anyway, and these items are just in endless supply right now.

True, that needs to be made known. I had a stack of sonobuoy records at NAS Sigonella on one of my first scenarios before I found out that they weren't needed.

Hi Guys,

Just looking but the ship and helicopter mags are shared and you can pull from them. So in the case of the 1982 Bremen if you add a Lynx you'll notice the torps are available. If you do find an instance where this is not the case do let us know but there are some easy work arounds.

As far as the mine loadouts in many cases we're still researching those. In the meantime you can add what you'd like.

The ships that don't have a dedicated helicopter have an ASW torpedo magazine that it shares with the helicopter. However since this isn't 100% clear I've updated the database and given all relevant ships (ca 300 in total) a dedicated helo mag. The updated database should be out soon.
