windows 8 crash

Post by bstarr »

I'm not very computer savy and I have windows 8. I know, bad combo. Anyway, the game starts fine but then when the a major battle takes place during the turn sequence the game crashes, giving me an error message that says I should run the game as administrator, but this happens even if I do start the game using 'run as administrator'. Also strange, I was able to play all of the tutorials, battles and all, but the game crashes during the first battle of the April start campaign every time.
thanks, Byron

Hello Byron,

Sorry for the trouble. This might be related to the frequency with which the game saves on the hard disk all the minutes details of each battle. The frequency is very high and can be a problem if you also have an anti virus or Windows UAC monitoring the files with all the zeal of a <insert your favourite police-state) border guard.

Bottom line, the public beta patch 1.01 alters this setting and is much more stable on this aspect, I recommend using it. You can find it in the main CW2 forum at Matrix or at Ageod.
