So I assign 6xmig23s as escorts for a flight of SU22s who will bomb iranian oil platforms.

The migs take off, circle a little bit, then land again. The SU22s never take off.

What just happened there and what did I miss?

It could be related to this:

tm.asp?m=3423824

Sometimes instead of launching a/c reload instead. That could be what happened to your SU22s.
