How does this compare to the original?

The new Cold War turned hot wargame from On Target Simulations, now expanded with the Player's Edition! Choose the NATO or Soviet forces in one of many scenarios or two linked campaigns. No effort was spared to model modern warfare realistically, including armor, infantry, helicopters, air support, artillery, electronic warfare, chemical and nuclear weapons. An innovative new asynchronous turn order means that OODA loops and various effects on C3 are accurately modeled as never before.

LRRP,

There are a number of threads pinned to the top that I would suggest reading over to help answer that question. To start check out this one tm.asp?m=3334093

Look at a few of the AARs too. A new one hit the Wargamer this morning from one of our beta testers.
OTS is looking forward to Southern Storm getting released!
