Geographic/Country names on map?

Post by SSN754planker »

I dont know if this a custom layers thing or if this has to be added by the developers themselves, but how about country names on the map? For the smaller countries, as you zoom in, the names pop up? Of course the units and such would be a "layer" above so to not intrude on gameplay.

I know this isnt a high priority thing, but it would make for a nice polished touch.

One of the favorite things I am doing with this sim right now is just on the fly making small tactical scenarios.

Not sure if it's possible. Over the course of 60+ years borders have changed as well as names of countries. One example of names would be Rhodesia to Zimbabwe. One example of borders would be Gaza, Sinai, West Bank and Golan Heights which have all changed hands several times over the years.

Did you notice the borders actually change on the map? Try it out in the editor; the breakup of the USSR and Yugoslavia, unification of Germany, it's all there. [8D]

Cities wont move. I vote for at least capital/major cities. Of course they can be added by manually.

Might be able to build or find a layer but somebody could build an import file for the cities. I'd suggest one building per as a marker.

There are "Marker (City or Town or Village)" under facilities in DB3000, which could be used.

I stand corrected then. Thanks for the heads up.
