torpedo custom trajectory huh ?

Post by nukkxx5058 »

How is it that I can plot custom trajectories for my torpedoes ??
I can even plot zigzags ... LOL
WTF ?

There's some logic in there that does allow it. This can be used as an exploit but we don't expect most players to do that. We'll be addressing at some point.

Thanks!

The problem was that I selected my sub to change it's trajectory and at the same time a torpedo was launched. So when I dragged a box to select my sub, I selected in fact both the sub and the torpedo. And then I plotted a new course and noticed that the torpedo was following my sub along the new course !
I think this is quite a serious issue ...

Modern torpedoes can be driven via wire guidance but at a certain point its cut and they go through a search routine.

BTW, right now, even air launched torpedoes are "wire-guided", I just tried it out. [;)]

Do you really think that a zigzag trajectory with 180 degree turns is realistic ?

For a wire guided torp? Yes.

You can also change the torp's speed--now I'm not sure that THAT's realistic, but it is a reasonable workaround as there is no way to adjust their speed pre-launch. Slower torps should (theoretically) be able to run further out.

What distance would the wire guidance work ? is that a physical cable ?? [&:]

Is the trajectory on this recording realistic [see attachment] ?
