[FIXED B453] Problem with CAP patrols

Post by tevans6220 »

My CAP patrols constantly leave their AAW patrol areas even when ordered not to. Sometimes they go so far out of the area that it leaves my surface groups vulnerable. I've lost a CV, CG and 2 DD's from not having air cover. Am I doing something wrong or is there a bug somewhere?

It seems to be a behavioural issue with the patrol missions. Seen both CAP and SEAD do it.

Can you please post a save file demonstrating this problem? Thanks!

I'll set one up if you like from the Shamal scenario, then you can watch both CAP and SEAD clear off and do some very 'silly' things [:D]

Here you go... CAP 'off on one', even though the settings shouldn't let them do this

Okay played around with this abit.

First I created a small test scenario and things worked out fine.

Next looked at your example and saw the behavior. I then unchecked plotted course when attacking and the aircraft stopped attacking and went back on station in the box. I then enlarged the box and the aircraft correctly intercepted only with the target flew into it.

Compared to my test scenario and the setting are the same.

Logging results for D to take a look at. Can you confirm that there were no other mouse clicks involved with those aircraft?

Thanks!

None at all, just set up the areas, made the missions including the behaviours, assigned the aircraft and set it to run.

I had the same problem in the airwar tutorial and reported this in the general comments section.

The inability to order your aircraft to remain on station and ignore distant bogies is a frustrating missing feature of the game.

Sure hope it is fixed soon

Fixed in Build 453, thanks in no small part to Tomcat's superb feedback.
