Equipment List

The new Cold War turned hot wargame from On Target Simulations, now expanded with the Player's Edition! Choose the NATO or Soviet forces in one of many scenarios or two linked campaigns. No effort was spared to model modern warfare realistically, including armor, infantry, helicopters, air support, artillery, electronic warfare, chemical and nuclear weapons. An innovative new asynchronous turn order means that OODA loops and various effects on C3 are accurately modeled as never before.

Equipment List

Post by DoubleDeuce »

Maybe I missed this or am not looking in the right place since I cannot find it. Is there an equipment/unit type (vehicle/aircraft, etc) list available for this game?

In the scenario editor.

An actual, look at this list, isn't available to my knowledge exactly. However, think of British, Soviet, US and West German land, helicopter and aircraft for the time period of 1979 - 1989, any of their equipment and I think you will find it's in the data base.

There are also different loadouts and armaments for a good number of these platforms.

Sweet Capn D, really appreciate that information. Also, see that that the game includes a pretty good scenario editor. I've been looking for a good Cold War, old school type wargame to direct my burnt out Steel Panthers design fix towards. Although obviously not the same scale, I'm hoping that this is the one game to fill that void. [8D]

For the most part you will find all equipment, on those lists, in the scenarios in the game. I pushed that equipment list HARD to create the units you will fight with. [:D]

I cannot 'AGREE' more,.... as the Soviets I have learned to HATE the 'M48' and the 'Jaguar' that the West Germans use. There is more to fear in this game than just the big names like Abrams, Leopard 2,Challenger, or T-80

I have a new found respect for the 2S6! Those twin 30MM are killer against any recon vehicle unfortunate enough to encounter it..[X(]

One vehicle I am desperately missing (joke !):
The SPz 91-2 ground radar carrier of the PzAufklBtl. in Germany (recce).
Used until the 1987s, being replaced by TPz Fuchs.

Only 80 or so were build, but it was "my" tank in these days, although the real tankers
were laughing about the expression "tank"...

Actually one of the more major areas I want to add to the system down the road is a functional ground radar model with all the electronic fun that goes along. Some recon units are listed with GSR (Ground search radars) but the radar system is not active. When we get going in that direction more units of that type we left out will get added in.

In fact we would need an easy accessible database of all platforms in the game including a short description and some technical data etc.)... This could be an annexe manual or ideally a physical DB accessible from within the game.
This would be very useful for the non-specialist, like me.

There is a subunit identification screen for each unit in the game. For non-specialist's like you.

Yes, I noticed that. Nice screens BTW. There is just one thing missing, a short description. Also there are lots of technical acronyms that I'm not familiar with.
Sounds a bit like Chinese to me :-)
But I will learn, I promise !

In fact, apparently, it freeze the game and the inspector window won't open.
It's not all the time but seems to appear randomly.
Am I the only one with this issue ?
