Controlling surface group speed

Post by $trummer »

Am I right in assuming that if I set the "lead" ship of a surface group in Unit View to a manual speed, pre-set or not, the others in the group will maintain the same speed (if capable)?

Yes, that's the expected behavior.

What I have noticed is that if you set a group to a manual speed, sometimes (maybe always, though haven't noticed it enough to say that) the non-lead members will not be able to hold formation as they are now not able to change their speed during turns/etc. What I have done to "fix" that is to leave the leader on manual, and go put the non-leaders back to automatic. That seems to do the trick, though I wish they would do that on their own.
