Smoke/thermals

The new Cold War turned hot wargame from On Target Simulations, now expanded with the Player's Edition! Choose the NATO or Soviet forces in one of many scenarios or two linked campaigns. No effort was spared to model modern warfare realistically, including armor, infantry, helicopters, air support, artillery, electronic warfare, chemical and nuclear weapons. An innovative new asynchronous turn order means that OODA loops and various effects on C3 are accurately modeled as never before.

Smoke/thermals

Post by Panta_slith »

What is the degrading effect of smoke barrages in the spotting/targetting/movement capabilities of units with/without thermals?
Now that NATO AFVs face T-80 with thermals, smoke seems less important as a defensive cloak than in the previous FPG.

Thermals can see through the smoke so NATO units with them are not hampered in any real way. All other units without of course end up with an additional visual hindrance hit. They can see into a smoked hex with some difficulty but not thru it usually.
OTS is looking forward to Southern Storm getting released!
