Equipment Discussions

The new Cold War turned hot wargame from On Target Simulations, now expanded with the Player's Edition! Choose the NATO or Soviet forces in one of many scenarios or two linked campaigns. No effort was spared to model modern warfare realistically, including armor, infantry, helicopters, air support, artillery, electronic warfare, chemical and nuclear weapons. An innovative new asynchronous turn order means that OODA loops and various effects on C3 are accurately modeled as never before.

Here is the latest 'tank', the BMPT-72 "Terminator" for sale by the Soviet arms dealers. Interesting that the colors are desert based.

That thing is...weird. It's sort of a catch-all general purpose armored something or other. I can't really imagine it being that useful in "standard" armored combat, but then again, the chances of any large-scale traditional armored battles are pretty slim these days. I could sure see it being used in, say, Syria, though.....

I see it as a support vehicle, capable of AT missions supporting infantry or cover missions with tanks (with 2 30mm can deal well with infantry and reserve tanks to shot armored vehicles).

I see it a little like an all terrain support vehicle, can face tanks, armored vehicles, deal with infantry supporting other units... he only needs AAA missiles and infantry to be the mother of all ACAVs [:D]

Something to do with old tank hulls. Not a bad idea. That high mounted optical sight would indicate a very hull down operation most of the time. Hide three of them on a ridgeline and melt an enemy tank company.

Does the US have working models of Russian MBT's? Not the export models but top of line Russian models? and vice versa, do the Russians have working models of US MBT's?
