Help with unit orientation

Post by FERdeBOER »

Hi!

I'm trying to create a small scenario and I'm facing a problem: I can't find where the unit orientation is (and the select new home base).

The manual says: "Found in the left click on unit drop down menu". [&:]
I can't find that drop down menu, nor understand what that left click is.

Probably is just in front of my face, but I can't find it. [:(]

Thanks!

Hello,

Select the unit and right-click on it (or press the equivalent context-menu key, the one to the right of the right Windows key).

If the unit is a static facility, on the bottom of the menu you should see an option "Set orientation". Select it and a small window with a slider bar should appear, allowing you to set the precise orientation of the facility.

Thanks!

Just a question. I usually orient my runways based on real life counter part. Do they have an effect on the game?

It does mean that aircraft coming to damage it will have to fly a specific, predictable course (parallel to it and over it) to maximize the damage, and in turn this makes it more vulnerable to air defences. (It is far from coincidental that most/all of Soviet airfields in the GDR had a SA-3 battery "guarding" the approach/landing path.)

a simple three minute test will show you that yes, it does (at least single unit AFs, you can try multi facility AFs yourself [;)] [:'(]

Didnt think about the bombing stuff though, only about takeoff etc. Thanks D, thats good to know!

Hmmm, looks like I'll have to modify some of my custom airports then...

Cool! That's the correct treatment. Glad the game knows that.

Thank you! Stupid on me, I was looking for that for a ship... [8|]
